Resident Engineer – Durban

We are seeking a detail-orientated Resident Engineer (RE) to support the construction supervision of road infrastructure projects in Durban. The successful candidate will work closely with contractors and consultants to ensure that project specifications, quality standards, and timelines are met on site.

Key Responsibilities

Furnish the Contractor with drawings, specifications, and instructions necessary for the proper and adequate execution of the Works.
Monitor and report on the Contractor’s approved Programme.
Perform site audits, inspections, quality control testing, and approve or reject work as required.
Maintain site documentation and records.
Implement the Engineer’s quality control plan.
Ensure that the Contractor has adequate equipment on Site and order, or consent to, the removal of major items.
Monitor construction quality and report any deviations.
Supervise the various aspects of the required construction activities and ensure compliance with the specified quality standards.
Attend all site and technical meetings, providing input on scheduled progress.
Track project timelines, safety standards, and material usage.

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:
BEng/BTech in Civil Engineering (or equivalent)

Professional Registration(s):
Registration as a Professional Engineer (Pr Eng)/Professional Technologist (Pr Tech) with ECSA

Years of Relevant Experience:
Minimum of 20+ years of experience (Relevant on major projects)

Preferred Project Experience:
Relevant Road experience on major upgrades
Efficient FIDIC Contracts, COTO Specification and BOQ
SANRAL procedures and processes
