Business Unit Manager

V3 Consulting Engineers is seeking to appoint a dynamic, results-driven, and professionally registered business unit manager to lead and manage its KwaZulu Natal business unit.

This is an excellent opportunity for a highly experienced professional with strong leadership, technical, financial, and business development capabilities within the engineering and built environment sector.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Managing the overall operations and profitability of the KwaZulu Natal Business Unit
  • Leading multidisciplinary teams and managing project delivery;
  • Driving business development and client relationship management;
  • Ensuring financial sustainability and budget management;
  • Managing contracts, risk, compliance, and quality systems;
  • Overseeing project implementation and technical delivery;
  • Mentoring staff and promoting skills development;
  • Supporting strategic growth initiatives within the business unit.

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

• BSc degree or relevant qualification in Engineering (BEng or BTech Engineering), or
• Degree in a Built Environment discipline, or
• Qualification in Project Management

Ideal / Advantageous Qualifications

• Postgraduate qualification in the Built Environment
• Honours degree in Engineering
• Postgraduate qualification in Project or Programme Management
• Master’s degree in Engineering
• Master’s degree in Business Leadership (MBL)

Professional Registration

• Professional registration with one of the following recognised professional bodies:
• ECSA as a Professional Engineer or Professional Engineering Technologist
• SACPCMP as a Professional Project Manager
• Relevant professional registration within the Built Environment sector

Years of Relevant Experience

• 8 to 10 years’ experience as a Senior Engineer, Project Manager, Senior Technologist, or similar role within the Built Environment
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a middle management role
• 3 to 5 years’ experience in senior management and people management

Advantageous Experience

• 10 to 15 years’ industry experience in engineering, project or programme management, the Built Environment, or the mining sector
• 5 to 10 years’ experience in a senior management role

Preferred Project Experience

• Exposure to multidisciplinary projects

Technical Skills

• Strong leadership and people management skills
• Financial management and business sustainability experience
• Business development and stakeholder engagement capability
• Sound knowledge of construction industry regulations and contracts
• Project and programme management expertise
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills
• Strategic planning and operational management capability
• Strong technical and commercial acumen
• Ability to manage multiple projects and teams simultaneously
