Background: The project is located in Perth, Western Australia (WA). Development WA initiated a project to upgrade the intersection of East Parade and Summers Street to cater for future increases in traffic due to the proposed East Perth Power Station Redevelopment.
Scope of Works: The scope of work completed by V3 includes the geometric design of the upgraded intersection, taking cognizance up the future ultimate layout, the signalization of the intersection and the significant number of existing services, including, but not limited to, overhead powerlines, underground cabling, fibre installations, potable water, gas pipelines and the proposed new pedestrian bridge.
The proposed design deviated from the concept design provided as a guideline by widening towards the
median instead of towards the verges. This design was considered more cost-effective by limiting the extent of road works and having minimal impact on the other services.
